With the audience of their closest friends and family, Libby and Ryan tied the knot at Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago. We were honored to provide our very own Chicago wedding DJ and lighting for the Garfield Park Conservatory wedding.

A Family Affair

To Libby, family was a very important factor in this day. Libby is from a military family; her father is a General, and she cared for her niece, Sadie, (a flower girl at the ceremony) while her brother and sister-in-law were deployed.  So, Libby chose to honor her family connections in several ways.

Upon entering the reception area at the Garfield Park Conservatory wedding, guests were introduced to Libby’s family in a very unique fashion. Four generations of wedding dresses stood along the wall, the oldest going all the way back to 1890 with Libby’s Great–Great Grandmother. Libby is planning on adding her dress to the collection as well!

Years in the Making

Libby and Ryan put a creative twist on the their table number assignments. While they stuck to the traditional numbers, they correlated each number with pictures of each of them at that age.  Each picture was sweeter then the next, and a great conversation starter for the guests.

Setting the Mood

The soft glow of the uplighting provided a simple and elegant background for dinner, and later complimented the dance floor lighting.

A Father-Daughter Dance to Remember

One of the standout moments of the evening was Libby’s dance with her dad. Traditionally, this special dance is set to the pace of a slower melody, but Libby and her Dad had something else in mind!

The duo danced a shag instead. The shag, a swing dance-like style, is a family tradition. The whole family knows how to shag and do it every year at Christmas parties.

Patti Herioux, Wedding Planning Specialist at MDM Entertainment worked closely with Libby to help plan every aspect. One thing that wasn’t planned? The dance moves!

“It was awesome… and completely un-choreographed!”

The improvised dance was surely impressive and memorable.

Time to Dance!

After their dance, the rest of their friends and family joined the dance floor to the impressive beats of our Chicago wedding DJ Mike D.

The night only got more exciting from there.  The dance party went completely over the top as the DJ played “Gangnam Style” by PSY and projected the video onto the ceiling. This was set up as a private joke from the groom to a group of his friends but their energy on the dance floor and the catchiness of the song sent the rest of the crowd into a frenzy even though they had no idea what was going on!
