In the spirit and trend of Transformation Tuesday, we’re taking a closer look at how to design your venue decor ! Stephanie and Chase held their wedding reception on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and it was a magical celebration.

The wedding decor Stephanie and Chase selected included design elements that were both classic and fresh! Read more to discover how their wedding decor design matched both their venue’s personality, and also their own! We hope you enjoy this week’s Transformation Tuesday: Wedding at the Lyric Opera of Chicago!

The Lyric Opera is one of Chicago’s most historical landmarks, and also among the world’s most beautiful buildings. The Opera House was built in 1929, and fully restored in 1996. Stephanie and Chase hosted their wedding reception in the Grand Foyer. The exquisite theatre lobby accommodates standing receptions in the main floor foyer for up to 700 (1,100 with both the foyer and mezzanine) and is ideal for gala auctions, weddings, cocktails, meetings, or seated dinners for up to 150.

“I attended a wedding at the Lyric Opera House — it was so beautiful! Both the ceremony and reception were held there. Its high ceilings and expansive spaces made the space such an elegant and unique place for a wedding. We gathered in the mezzanine for cocktail hour. The views were gorgeous.”

At the initial design meeting, Stephanie shared her wedding decor inspiration photos with us and florist, Juliet Tan; most of which featured extravagant floral and lighting enhancements. It became evident in our walk-through that the lighting in this space was already lending itself to a soft, romantic candlelight tone, that of which both S & C were aiming for in the overall look and feel of the space. Considering the dignified elegance and architectural details present in the Grand Foyer, the couple decided to invest on adding drapery instead of lighting; ultimately bringing soft textures to a room with sharp architectural structures.

Under the expert guidance of Tiffany Wilson of Liven It Up Events the vision for Stephanie and Chase’s wedding reception came to life! While enjoying an impressive rehearsal of La Traviata, the team began to hustle and transform the Grand Foyer into a dreamy, wedding reception hall! As the vendors began to clear out of the lobby, take a lot at how the lobby was completely transformed!
