Guest Blog: Beata Orwat of Paradise Flowers
This week’s guest blog comes from Beata Orwat of Paradise Flowers. A floral designer for 15 years, Beata’s passion for wedding flowers began in 1996 when her family opened up their first shop in Des Plaines, IL. She started taking various courses including the International Academy of Floral Design in Chicago. She started creating wedding flowers with the help of their lead floral designer, Yoko, who taught classes in here in the suburbs and Japan. Paradise Flowers specializes in tropical flowers.
Being fortunate to have met so many wonderful brides and grooms, Beata has learned there are four main things to consider in choosing your wedding flowers.
What season does your wedding fall in? If your wedding falls in spring or fall, the availability of flowers is greater and will keep the cost down. In Spring you have an amazing selection of lily of the valley, peonies, muscari, scabiosa, tulips, lilacs, and hyacinth. In the fall you have dahlias, ranunculus, cosmos, berries and foliage that come in beautiful oranges, browns, burgundys, reds, and purples.
BEATA’S INSIDER TIP: Choosing a wedding date during a holiday (Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, etc) will bring the cost of your wedding flowers up since they are in high demand.
We love to use color. The more color the better. Think of what main color you would like to use and choose a couple contrasting colors that will pop out against the main color. Wedding flowers can add that little dynamic to a photo that will come out amazing and fun.
What style would you like to use for your wedding? Would you go for more of a traditional style? rustic? vintage? modern? or bold and funky? We have incorporated everything from feathers to dice and skulls in our weddings. Let your personality shine through your wedding flower style.
When you have a budget in mind, it is much easier to choose blooms for your wedding. We work within every budget and will give you tips and ideas on how to make your wedding beautiful and memorable.
