Guest Blog: Cynthia Sally of Blend Beauty Studio, Chicago Makeup and Hair Artists
Cynthia Sally, owner of Lombard-based Blend Beauty Studio, brings us this week’s guest blog focused on airbrush make-up. With over 10 years of experience in the industry, Cynthia shares some tips to ensure you are picture perfect from every angle, no matter if it’s the moment you step into the aisle or the last dance at your reception.
You’ve checked off all the big things on your list…venue, lighting, photographer, DJ, florist, etc. While all those help to set the scene, every bride knows one thing: all eyes are on you. So what are you missing? Your Makeup Artist! These are the photos that you will be showing your friends, family, future children (and grandchildren!), so of course every bride wants to look flawless.
Now, the number one question I am asked is, “What is airbrush makeup and why does every bride need it?”. Let me fill you in!
It’s no surprise that summer is the most popular season for weddings. Claiming 40.5% of all ceremonies in the year, brides are battling the heat. Summer sun means you will be sweating! You will be hugged A LOT (yay!). You will be dancing with your groom with your head on his shoulder. What can you do to help protect your make-up from all that?
Airbrush makeup is waterproof and sweat-proof. No leaving your face print on your groom’s crisp black tux. When you rub off that red lipstick that Aunt Betsy planted on your cheek, your foundation will not budge. In addition to being waterproof and sweat-proof, it gives a flawless finish since it is sprayed on the face and there is no demarcation marks from brushes. Most people think that because something is sprayed on the face, it must be cakey, its exactly the opposite. The finish is smooth and natural.
Picking your Makeup Artist
Interested in having a Makeup Artist to work with you to find the perfect look for your event, whether it be natural or dramatic? Here are a few tips to help you search.
- The best Makeup Artists book up quickly, don’t leave it to the last minute.
- Always leave airbrushing up to the professionals. There are many mainstream airbrush systems that are coming out on the market that are not formulated to the standards of a professional line. Airbrushing also takes skill and training.
- Look for a Makeup artist that is willing to provide you with the best styling experience – this is YOUR day after all. Make it memorable.
