Meagan and Ryan’s Wedding at Kitchen Chicago and City View Loft
Meagan and Ryan’s Wedding at Kitchen Chicago and City View Loft was rustic, chic, industrial and vintage all wrap up into one!
It All Started With a Google Search
“I Google image searched, ‘Cool loft spaces in Chicago’ and the pictures of the super huge windows with the diamond shaped lanterns moved me to research Kitchen Chicago,” said Meagan.
When searching for a ceremony space, Meagan and Ryan received an email from Kitchen Chicago giving them first dibs on the new event space opening upstairs, City View Loft. Meagan said it was amazing how well it fit her theme and had to book both spaces. The downstairs held the ceremony with a long aisle and the upstairs held the reception with plenty of room for dancing and dinner.
Inspired by the venues natural, rich and warm colors, Meagan choose white, gold and champagne. The theme was a “1920’s, intimate secret hideout party spot.” Everything was set to the 1920’s theme with Red Sangria and cute vintage decorations.
“People were amazed at my choice to have the bridesmaids wear white, but I’m not that insecure of a bride that cares about a color,” said Meagan.
Seeing all of the bridesmaids walk down the aisle with the groomsmen in black suits looked very sharp.
Up stairs in the City View Loft, the view of the city was amazing! They don’t call it “City View” for nothing! It really added to the wedding and looked great during the day and at night.
A Field of Memories
Meagan and Ryan weaved their love story into their big day with every little detail.
The food served at the reception had a Spanish twist to it, delicious with a little spicy zing! Far from the typicalwedding fair. We thought the couple just had amazing taste in food, but actually Ryan’s Father shared with the crowd the back story and said the food reflected the place where these two love birds got engaged.
So we had to ask… How did Ryan propose?
“It was on my first Stevenson family trip to Spain. We had a jammed packed two weeks of activities ahead and we finally had a day to ourselves to roam around alone. We went exploring in a little town called Ariate in southern Spain and he did at dusk on a bridge under a light pole. He got on his knee and popped the question….very romantic,” said Meagan.
Did we mention they had amazing food!! Chicago Cupcakes did a fabulous job with the dessert as well.
Not only was Ryan romantic with the proposal but also very thoughtful when it came to the ceremony. MDM Entertainment was given a track to play during the unity ceremony. The track was a muffled, recorded song of a man singing and celebrating among his friends and family. It had a vintage sound like a vinyl record and the deep soul of the man singing warmed your heart. We later found out that the man singing was Meagan’s Father.
“I really enjoyed the sound clip Ryan put together of my dad for communion (unity ceremony). I lost my dad on February 20th of this year and we had a really close relationship. My dad was just so excited for our union and as my pastor he was originally supposed to do the nuptials with us. Thanks to Ryan he was still able to play apart. Ryan’s Uncle Joe (the officiate) was amazing though and was super supportive and made the process bearable,” said Meagan.
For The Love of Music
As you can already tell music played a big part in this couples life so when it came to their first dance song they had some serious decisions to make.
“Ryan and I share a love of music, which made the task of finding the right song fun and argumentative at the same time. Originally we wanted “Swing Life Away” by Rise Against but then I heard “All of Me” by John Legend, in the middle of a 7/11 run, and cried happy tears. The song was new but perfect for us and Ryan agreed,” said Meagan.
Their first dance was beautiful and really got the party started. Picking a popular song that everyone could sing along to, helped pump everyone up for the nights dancing. MDM DJ Aumir had no problem getting people up and movin’.

Meagan and all the bridesmaids never left the dance floor. Bride Meagan held her ground during many dance battles and everyone had an amazing time!
“Kate from Chicago Vintage Weddings…she was the best day of coordinator and she kept Ryan and I on track. Besides planning and hand-making everything for the wedding Ryan and I have full-time jobs and some tasks would have been overlooked without Kate’s friendly reminders,” said Meagan.
MDM Entertainment would like to congratulate Meagan and Ryan and thank them for choosing MDM for their big day. From the ceremony to the reception, your wedding was beautiful!
