George and Tara’s National Hellenic Museum Wedding
As busy season grows near we always take a few minutes to look back at some of the amazing weddings we were a part of in the previous year to get us inspired. Plus, once wedding season starts we won’t have much of a chance to blog (or sleep!). This week’s featured wedding is George and Tara’s National Hellenic Museum wedding. This one has been on my radar to blog about since the day we did the wedding but we were finally moved to action when we saw this absolutely amazing wedding trailer from Orange Wedding Films.

We loved working with George and Tara during the entire wedding planning process, they were such a nice couple and had a lot of great ideas. We were able to take their vision of their wedding day and add a few touches here and there to come up with a stunning and memorable wedding day for them and their guests.
Never having done a wedding at the National Hellenic Museum in Chicago we did a site visit to get the lay of the land and worked closely with their awesome event coordinator Klea from then on. The minute we saw the view from the roof top we were hooked!
George and Tara’s wedding reception started with cocktail hour on the rooftop and you couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day or view!
Setting up all of that gear outside during a hot July day in Chicago was challenging to say the least but it was well worth it after seeing the finished result.
After cocktail hour guests were escorted into the transformed museum for dinner and dancing. George and Tara love the Greek island of Santorini (which is one of my top 3 favorite spots in the world as well!) so we were stoked to come up with ideas to incorporate the feel of the island into their wedding decor as much as possible. We used blue uplighting and several shades of blue lanterns to reflect the blue rooftops prevalent on the island as well as the gorgeous sky and sea.
Guests had a great time eating, drinking and dancing at the reception but little did they know that the party was just starting…. At 11 pm guests moved back onto the rooftop for the killer after party complete with an LED dance floor and a stellar view.
Continuing the Santorini theme we washed the wall of the National Hellenic Museum in a deep blue and projected an image of Santorini onto the wall.
Guests continued to dance the night away on the LED dance floor under the stars
Here is another video from Orange Films highlighting the day.
Now I finally know what that drone was flying around for all night. Shout out to Orange Films for their incredible work!
Most importantly, thanks to George and Tara for letting us be a part of their amazing National Hellenic Museum wedding!
