You don’t have to go, but you can’t stay here: Chicago Wedding After Party
Wedding After Party
They say time flies when you’re having fun. For a bride and groom, the time flies by even faster on their wedding day. Time will come for the DJ to stop playing and the bar to close. But just because the wedding reception is over does not mean the party has to stop. The solution? Wedding after party!
Holding a wedding after party for your Chicago wedding reception is the perfect answer to that nagging feeling that everything went by too fast. This growing trend gives the couple a few extra hours to enjoy the happiest day of their lives, and your younger guests a chance to cut loose! So, when it comes to the point you must admit that you don’t have to go, but you can’t stay here, what are your options?
You will most likely have out-of-town guests so you want to pick someplace near by the reception and relatively easy to locate. From there, you can pick anything from a local pub or cocktail lounge for your wedding after party. Another good idea would be to check out the hotel where you reserved your wedding block. You have the space as well as the convenience of being close to where you want to close the evening. Also, it allows the guests to change into something more casual and comfortable if they like.
Hire a party bus or see if the hotel has a shuttle that can be use to get you and your guests from the reception venue to the after party locale. That can first, solve any confusion by out of town guests, and secondly, provide fun means of entertainment in between (think party bus or karaoke bus). Most importantly, it is safer for everyone involved, especially after an open bar reception!
Wedding after hours are a second chance at décor – you can keep up the theme of your wedding or try to do something fresh. Help set the mood by incorporating soft lights for a more relaxed feel or a more dramatic effect for a club-like after party. Décor can really affect the moods of your guest so choose what does best for the atmosphere you are trying to create.
Beyond lighting, furniture is also an important factor for a wedding after party. Consider the use of lounge chairs, ottomans, LED light tables and more to build up a completely personalized lounge that is unique for you and your guests.
Once there, what can you plan to keep your guests entertained? Music is key – it can effect the atmosphere as much (if not more) then the lighting. Ask if your reception DJ or band if they are also open to a wedding after party. If not, use it as an opportunity for something different. You can find a different DJ, band, or maybe even an impersonator. Or, consider picking a venue that would have pool tables, bowling lanes, or something of the like.
